Your Kiwi born fly fishing guide Rob Vaz is a mad keen angler based in the Central North Island of Aotearoa. Rob offers not just a days guiding but an angling experience not to be forgotten, with plenty of humor and tuition.
Rob has over 20 years experience guiding in New Zealand representing New Zealand competitively for over 15 years. Following success as the 2003 national fly fishing champion, Rob progressed to represent his country in two world championships in Slovakia and Slovenia and competed in Commonwealth and Oceania championships in Scotland, Tasmania and New Zealand. Rob has recently fished in Mongolia, Slovakia and Iceland and brings a wealth of new knowledge to the industry. Foundational to Rob's guiding service is his love for art, music ,photography and writing.
Rob has written in many leading fly fishing magazines both in New Zealand and abroad. With a background in graphic design Rob spends spare time with his family landscape painting, and playing guitar. Additionally has been a Waikato rep in field hockey and a good hand in cricket.
Rob holds a diploma in inter cultural studies and has worked for NZ Red Cross helping former refugees and Maori youth. Rob delights in meeting new cultures sharing God's amazing creation, Aotearoa, New Zealand.
