Rob is an excellent fly fishing guide and easy guy to spend the day with. He is extremely dedicated to his craft and goal to put you onto some very large rainbows & browns.
We met at 6:15 am and after driving for an hour then hiking/wading for another hour, we experienced some beautiful pristine backcountry fishing on an isolated river. Caught 7 big beautiful trout.
Rob knew exactly where the fish should be and which fly to entice a bite.
Rob is also an excellent caster and teacher.
I strongly recommend Rob as a guide and have absolutely no hesitation in doing so.

Two days fly fishing with Rob for three family members from South Africa and myself was out of this world. I’ve fly fished before but never caught so many trophy fish in a two day period. He took two family members from novice to catching trophy fish. We all had such an amazing time and learnt so much. Rob is amazing - down to earth and very patient with so much knowledge and experience. I was blown away to learn of his achievements nationally and internationally.

The brief was simple. Lets go hunt some quality fish on backcountry water I haven't seen yet. What followed were two of the best days fishing I could have asked for. When you have a passion for fly fishing, you want to spend that time on quality water and with guys that share your passion. Not only did Rob get me into some stunning dryfly action but it was great to spend a few days with the guy and share a few stories.

A Truly Skilled Guide
Just spent two fantastic days guided by Rob Vaz a truly skilled guide who can get to all kinds of isolated back country streams and creeks full of big browns and rainbows in some of the most fantastic scenery. Robs instinctive knowledge of the main rivers and pools is unbelievable, even when the conditions get tough Rob steps up a gear sets up the perfect rig and finds the next target in no time. This was one of the best trips ever experienced really challenging long days, picked up heaps of great fly fishing tips from the master, loads of memorable fish and cool pictures. Highly recommended all round great guy Rob really nailed the trip many many thanks.

‘the bucket list’ guide
Rob was recommended by 3 separate sources and I can, without a doubt, say that Rob is ‘the bucket list’ guide. Rob put me into my first fish on a nymph and then the next and the next, then I got smoked by a tank of a fish… It wouldn’t have been a complete trip if the big one didn’t get away. Then we switched over to catching on dries and smashed a cracker of a rainbow jack, these are memories of a lifetime…. We were fishing at a river mouth and the wind was howling, waves were almost big enough to curl, but Rob still managed to keep me into fish. The browns had not yet made it into my net, Rob took me a pool where some big browns were holding on the bottom and it wasn’t long before a stunning big leopard pattern brown was in my net, just out of this world! Rob is the perfect guide, host, super easy to get along with and he also taught me how to properly roll cast among several new tips & techniques. I’m looking forward to fishing with Rob again soon!

The trip had everything...
..great scenery, terrific fishing and even the one that got away. I've fished a fair bit and with a lot of guides, and I really cannot recommend Rob's guiding service enough. Highly skilled, incredibly patient, adaptable, prompt communication and good company. First off I feel as though there are two types of guides in this world. There are those who do it for the money and those who do it because they love the sport of fly fishing. Stunning scenery
So I said let’s do something different, a bit out there …maybe fly in somewhere?… Robs response was… let me make contact with a few people and I’ll come back with some options…
Six weeks later we were “arm chair” fishing, well, sitting watching the stunning scenery pass by as we floated down to the next pool or run…So Rob had setup a two day back country raft trip, which provided us the opportunity to fish water that could only be reached on a raft.
The trip provided, sight fishing to both browns and rainbows as well a blind fishing into likely holding water, in a number of different water types, small streams where you needed to creep up onto fish and bigger river runs and pools and pocket water, all of which produced fish.
Rob’s a great guy, who is easy to spend time with. This is important when you are going on an extended trip. He’s easy to have a laugh with and doesn’t put you under any pressure to catch the fish he’s put you in front of. His artistic side is also a great trait that means you always end up with some great memories in pics and videos. But beware his love for chocolate, keep your own stash safe..!!!

Rob is a fantastic guide who really knows his stuff. Having never fished with a guide before I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
